Round 18 Team of the Week

Round 18’s Team of the Week…

Hull FC climbed back into the top six in Round 18 and were inspired by The Hermanator as they forged a second half comeback to overturn a visiting Trinity.

Herman Ese’ese was on the field for a total of 65 minutes and in that time came up with a monstrous180 metres, 29 tackles and seven tackle busts.

On Friday night, St Helens overcame Leeds and Matt Whitley was pivotal with 43 tackles as the Red V kept the Rhinos scoreless.

Jake Wardle and Junior Nsemba starred in Wigan’s victory against Huddersfield. Wardle scored two tries – one being a certain try of the season contender, while Nsemba was also on the scoresheet and made 108 metres, 21 tackles and seven tackle busts.

It’s a trio of Leopards once again in Round 18’s Team of the Week. Bailey Hodgson racked up 258 metres in the fullback role and he is joined by experienced teammates Lachlan Lam and Josh Charnley.

Lam was in support of Tesi Niu to win the foot race and touch down for a terrific try in the second half, and also came up a total of three try assists as he continues to top the Super League charts.

Then, Charnley made history scoring his 250th and 251st Super League tries and continued to be his prime running 164 metres.

Over in the south of France, a George Williams masterclass ensured the Wolves would leave with the two points.

It was a Williams waterslide for the visitors’ second try as he slid over the whitewash, before assisting two more, including Josh Thewlis’ dramatic match-winner.

And it’s three weeks on the trot for Ben Currie who was once again his side’s top tackler with 41 tackles in the blistering heat.

In defeat, Devine Balmforth shone for the Dragons and bagged a double as the hosts attempted a late comeback.

There are two Salford faces in Team of the Week as Paul Rowley’s side earned their first win since March.

Veteran Chris Hill put in a mammoth stint which helped guide the Red Devils to their second victory of the season.

The 37-year-old made 132 metres in 22 carries, as well as 20 tackles, and this was all in a 58-minute stint. He’s still going strong!

Speedster Esan Marsters assisted two tries and scored the try that put his team in front - and is therefore the second Salford player to deservedly feature.
