Magic WKND Fantasy debrief
6 May 2025

Magic WKND saw multiple memorable performances - including some of which scored highly in Fantasy.
Here is a look at some of the best and worst performers in Fantasy at St. James' Park in Newcastle...
Top performers
Morgan Gannon takes top spot this week by a singular point. Gannon scored 79 Fantasy points during Leeds Rhinos' victory on Saturday night against the Saints.
The second rower scored and assisted a try, as well as making 141 metres during the 17-4 success.
At £90k, is Gannon a cheaper alternative to consider with performances such as these?
Second this week saw a return to the top three spots for Hull FC prop, Herman Ese’ese. The dangerous Ese’ese continued his excellent scoring form on Sunday, when he strolled over from John Asiata’s well-timed flick pass.
The 78 points haul has pulled him to the top of the Fantasy table this season with 696 points - and that's 41 more than any other player.
The third top scorer in Fantasy also featured in the opening game of Day Two, as Giants captain Leroy Cudjoe claimed 76 points.
37-year-old Cudjoe magically rolled back the years, stepping Will Pryce on his way to the try-line and made 123 metres from just 16 carries. The veteran also gave a valiant effort in defence with 32 tackles, as Huddersfield recorded their first win of the season and continued their fine Magic Weekend record.

Fantasy flops
Tom Burgess scored just four points in Fantasy at Magic Weekend and a late shot in the first half saw him lose points after receiving a yellow card.
At £140k it feels as though Burgess is an expensive player to keep in your side.
A £150k Benjamin Garcia had a poor return - given for years he has been one of the best Fantasy performers. Accumulating just 13 points is not the type of return you’d hope for from a player like Garcia.
However, this could suggest that this is hopefully just a minor blip.
Another expensive and £150k Fantasy player who could be worth swapping is Jonny Lomax. Over the last few weeks, Lomax has seen his game time limited with Paul Wellens opting for promising youngster George Whitby instead.
Lomax came on off the bench at Magic and claimed 20 Fantasy points.
