Double delight for Hull KR in August awards

Mikey Lewis is the overwhelming supporters' choice for Glen's Vodka Player of the Month for a second time this season - completing a significant double for his side with Willie Peters also named Betfred Coach of the Month.

23-year-old Lewis has been in unstoppable form receiving Sky Sports’ Player of the Match medal on countless occasions and being a key force during a month in which the Robins celebrated five consecutive wins against Castleford Tigers, Catalans Dragons, St Helens, Salford Red Devils and Warrington Wolves.

The scrum-half crossed the whitewash four times last month and now sits joint second alongside Warrington’s Matt Dufty for tries scored this season.

And the accolades don’t stop there, with Head Coach Willie Peters also recognised for the second time this year for his role in confirming a top three finish for the Rovers in Super League for the first time ever.

One member of the voting explained their support of Peters below:

“Hull KR have approached a really tough sequence of games with belief and confidence and got the job done with some glittering Rugby League to show for it. They have deserved their place at the top, with players crediting the game plan set by Willie Peters for that success. He is a calm head, has given his side an attractive blueprint to work from and coaxed and encouraged Man of Steel form from Mikey Lewis.”

The race for who'll be crowned Player of the Month for September continues this Friday (13 September) when Wigan Warriors host Leeds Rhinos live on Sky Sports, with coverage from 7.30pm.

The shortlist for Glen's Vodka Super League Player of the Month for September will be announced at the end of the month.

The Betfred Coach of the Month voting panel is made up of selected members of the Rugby League media.
