Elland Road Memories

Rugby League returns to Elland Road for the 2024 Magic WKND, where Leeds United’s ground has staged a host of unforgettable rugby league matches down the years.

Here are some of the most iconic...

1982 Challenge Cup Final Replay

Hull defeated Widnes 18-9 in front of over 41,000 in the replayed Challenge Cup Final. Captain David Topliss and 19 year-old Lee Crooks were the inspiration for the Black and Whites as they collected the famous trophy for the first time in 68 years.

1985 Premiership

St Helens beat Hull KR 36-16 in the Premiership (now Grand Final), and it was Mal Meninga's last game in the Red V. 1984-85 was the season in which Saints ended their seven year trophy wait, and this was aided hugely by the presence of Australian wizard, Meninga.
