BWSL: Round 6 Preview

Round 6 is the BWSL takes place this weekend!

Round 6 will get underway with Leeds Rhinos hosting Leigh Leopards at AMT Headingley Stadium (K.O. 5.30pm).

This game will form part of a double-header with the Rhinos Men – who will also face Leigh in their Round 16 Betfred Super League fixture.

The Rhinos Women have won all previous four meetings between the two sides and they most recently came up against one another in the 2025 Women’s Challenge Cup Group Stages - Leeds comfortably winning 46-4.

On Sunday, Barrow Raiders are at home to Huddersfield Giants at the Northern Competitions Stadium (K.O. 12pm).

Last time out in September 2024, it was Barrow who won 24-4. But after a valiant performance in Round 5, Huddersfield will certainly be oozing with confidence.

The Giants pushed the current champions York Valkyrie all the way in the previous round - even leading at one stage. Eventually, they would fall short 20-24.

Can Warrington compete with Valkyrie (K.O. 12pm) in Round 6? They’re rooted to the bottom of the table without a win in their opening five matches…

It's going to be a tough ask as it's without question that York will want to assert dominance following their late scare last week.

What action will unfold at Victoria Park?

Then, fans are in for a treat on Sunday afternoon with a huge derby televised live on The Sportsman (K.O. 2pm).

Table topping Wigan meet with second place Saints – just weeks after Wembley, which saw Wigan go on to lift their first ever Women's Challenge Cup trophy, and deny their rivals a fifth successive title.

With bragging rights at stake, it's set to be a mouthwatering contest at Robin Park Arena - can the Warriors claim the spoils and remain unbeaten, or will Saints enact a fierce revenge and leapfrog their opponents into top spot?

Who will lose their first BWSL game of 2025?

The Red V have won their last four away meetings with Wigan, but their opponents have been in unstoppable form so far this year.

We've already seen what happened in the Challenge Cup Final when the Cherry & White produced that ruthless 42-6 victory, which means Saints can ill-afford to underestimate a relentless Warriors side led by Denis Betts...
