Round 12 Round-Up

Here’s what happened in Round 12 of the Betfred Super League…

The action kicked off on Thursday evening as Hull FC dominated fellow play-off hopefuls Leigh Leopards at the Leigh Sports Village sealing a 12-26 victory, although the Black and Whites led 0-26 by half-time.

FC came out of the blocks quickly with tries from Lewis Martin, Cade Cust and Herman Ese’ese before Sam Eseh crashing over just before the interval all but sealed victory for John Cartwright’s side.

Edwin Ipape and Owen Trout did cross for the Leopards in the second half, but it was too little too late.

St Helens backed up their huge win over the Dragons with another dominant display dispatching of Huddersfield Giants 4-46 on Friday evening at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Jack Welsby was the star of the show crossing for a hat-trick for the Saints whilst Tristan Sailor – now featuring on the wing – and Curtis Sironen both notched braces. Lewis Murphy was also on the scoresheet for the visitors whilst teenage sensation George Whitby kicked seven goals.

Jake Bibby scored the Giants only try as Luke Robinson’s side fell to an 11th defeat of the Betfred Super League season.

Wembley finalists collided on Friday evening as Warrington Wolves met Hull KR two weeks prior to their meeting in the 2025 Betfred Challenge Cup Final. The Robins will head to Wembley with bragging rights after a 12-31 win over the Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Halfback duo Mikey Lewis and Tyrone May were pivotal in KR’s victory each crossing for a try and providing two try-assists apiece. Willie Peters’ backline was again instrumental with Tom Davies (2), Joe Burgess and Jack Broadbent all scoring whilst centre Peta Hiku was named as Player of the Match with two crucial try-assists to his name.

Saturday’s action saw a West Yorkshire Derby between Castleford Tigers and Leeds Rhinos and it was Brad Arthur’s side who took the two points, 6-29, despite a valiant Tigers effort.

Leeds led just 0-7 at half-time following a Sam Lisone try and a Jake Connor drop-goal. Quickfire tries from Harry Newman and Ryan Hall furthered the Rhinos advantage before Newman and Lisone would each double their accounts for the afternoon in the final 13 minutes.

Louis Senior notched the Tigers only score.

Catalans Dragons – under the stewardship of interim Head Coach Joel Tomkins – faced off against Tomkins’ former side Wigan Warriors in Perpignan but the Dragons could not turn their fortunes around falling to a 0-48 defeat.

The Warriors dominated from the early stages with seven different try-scorers crossing for the visitors – Liam Marshall (2), Harry Smith, Bevan French, Junior Nsemba, Kruise Leeming, Jai Field and Sam Walters. Adam Keighran was in fine form with the boot notching eight goals.

Wakefield Trinity rounded off Round 12 with a club-record Betfred Super League victory as they saw off basement club Salford Red Devils 72-10 at the DIY Kitchens Stadium.

Trinity boasted ten different try-scorers with flyer Lachlan Walmsley, mercurial prop-forward Caius Faatili and debutant Ellis Lingard each scoring doubles.

Jay Pitts, Seth Niketemo, Josh Rourke, Cameron Scott, Mason Lino, Max Jowitt and Mike McMeeken were Trinity’s other scorers. Nene MacDonald and Jonny Vaughan’s tries were mere consolation for the Red Devils.
