Round 7 Round Up
13 Apr 2025

Here is a round-up of all the action from Round 7's Betfred Super League!
Round 7 got underway with Salford Red Devils hosting Leeds Rhinos on Thursday evening.
The first forty was closely contested as the hosts restricted the Rhinos to single score by James McDonnell and Lachlan Miller’s successful penalty goal.
But Brad Arthur’s men found fine form in the second stanza with McDonnell crossing twice more inside the first ten minutes.
Leeds then stretched their advantage further through Miller’s try and conversion, before star of the show McDonnell claimed a fourth to round off a convincing away win for his side (0-28).

On Friday, there was an epic showdown between the table toppers and the champions, as Hull KR welcomed Wigan Warriors to Sewell Group Craven Park.
As expected, it was a brilliant battle of the best, as Wigan came from behind to end the Robins’ unbeaten start to the Super League campaign.
Former Wigan man Joe Burgess opened the scores for KR with a flying finish in the corner – following some beautiful play in the build-up.
It wasn’t long before the Warriors replied, however, with Bevan French offloading to young Zach Eckersley who raced 70 metres to dot down.
But Peta Hiku ensured his side would have the advantage heading into the break as he took in Tyrone May’s well-timed short pass to go over.
The blistering affair continued – with both sides defending tenaciously throughout. And it would take up until the 67th for another point to be scored as Harry Smith sidestepped his way to the line to edge the Warriors in front with just over ten minutes on the clock.

The tide then well and truly turned as iconic duo French and Jai Field combined in trademark fashion as French capitalised on a loose ball and sent his fullback in for a magnificent match-winner.

Abbas Miski then added the icing on the cake moments later for Wigan as he batted off multiple defenders to touch the ball down (12-28).
Also on Friday night, St Helens returned to winning ways on home soil – with a 26-14 victory over Wakefield Trinity.
Young halfback George Whitby stepped up in the absence of captain Jonny Lomax and the home side raced into a 20-0 lead at half-time with tries from Morgan Knowles, Matt Whitley and Harry Robertson.
Whitley added his second from James Bell's incredible offload to further extend their lead after the break.
Trinity went on to outscore their opponents in the second half, however, responding with two tries from Oli Pratt and another from Mason Lino who was there in support of Renouf Atoni and went over on what was his 100th appearance in the Red, White & Blue.
But it was to be Saints’ night as they comfortably ended Wakefield’s 100% away record in Super League and now find themselves just two points behind top spot.

On Saturday, Hull FC stunned Warrington Wolves at the Halliwell Jones Stadium as they maintained their perfect away run in 2025 and moved up to second in the table (16-28).
The Black & Whites responded emphatically to their disappointing derby defeat in the Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals last weekend – racking up a total of 26 points to Warrington's four at the interval.
Tom Briscoe touched down for a double either side of Davy Litten's try with Herman Ese'ese sending them further ahead soon after – and that's tries scored in six successive games for the Hermanator!
Skipper George Williams did eventually get Warrington off the mark but Litten crashed over right on the hooter to solidify Hull's sensational first-half showing.
The Wolves attempted a comeback through wingers Josh Thewlis and Matty Ashton, but John Cartwright's side held out to win.

Saturday’s second game saw Leigh Leopards return to winning ways in Super League, beating Castleford Tigers comfortably at the Jungle (6-20).
Edwin Ipape and Darnell McIntosh were the scorers in the opening half, before Leigh picked up where they left off in the second as Bailey Hodgson upped the tally and McIntosh did a double.
Zac Cini did score a consolation for the Tigers with seven minutes left on the clock, making sure they wouldn't be nilled on home turf.
