Super League's Split Round
21 Jul 2025

Super League’s first mid-season split round will kick off with a Thursday night blockbuster this week, as Wakefield Trinity host local rivals Leeds Rhinos in a showdown between play-off contenders which could test the extended capacity of the DIY Kitchens Stadium.
Trinity have the chance to climb back into the top six while a victory would lift the Rhinos to joint second, at least for 24 hours – before Wigan Warriors host Catalans Dragons in the first Friday night fixture of Round 20, aiming to reduce Hull KR’s lead at the top of the table to two points.
The first half of the Round will then be completed on Saturday afternoon when John Cartwright’s Hull FC are guaranteed a warm welcome back to the MKM Stadium after their stunning Round 19 win at Wigan, and will look to maintain their play-off push with a home match against Huddersfield Giants.
The other six Betfred Super League clubs have the rare luxury of a weekend off in high summer, before Round 20 is completed with three more fixtures on July 31 and August 1.
Willie Peters confirmed after his Hull KR team beat Catalans in Perpignan on Saturday that he would be allowing them to make the most of the break before they return to action in a Thursday night match at Salford.
There are two matches on Friday night with Leigh Leopards aiming to maintain their impressive momentum at home to Warrington Wolves, and Castleford Tigers now guaranteed to travel to St Helens in upbeat mood after their stirring Round 19 victory against Warrington.
Meanwhile the six teams who play this weekend will have their opportunity to take a mid-season breather, before the final seven-round run-in to the play-offs begins – with another mouthwatering clash between Leigh and Leeds to kick off Round 21 on Thursday August 7, and the much-anticipated meeting of Wigan and Hull KR at The Brick Community Stadium on Friday August 15.
