Round 19 Round Up

A run-down of the Round 19 action...

Round 19 got underway with St Helens hosting Leigh Leopards at The Totally Wicked Stadium. Both sides came into this contest with previous wins under their belts, but it was the Leopards who brought the X Factor, pulling off their first victory away at Saints since 1982.

Joe Ofahengaue scored both Leigh's tries on Thursday night, while Gareth O'Brien topped up the scoreline with four successful penalties.

Saints' only response was a Harry Robertson try in the final minute, as their five-game winning streak finally came to an end, and Leigh continue to keep up the pressure on Super League's top two (4-16).

On Friday night, Wakefield Trinity returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion as they defeated Huddersfield Giants 10-46 at the Accu Stadium.

It was the Giants who opened the scoring through Jacob Gagai, but Daryl Powell's men would go on to score 30 unanswered points in the first forty, including a first half double from Jayden Myers and tries from Lachlan Walmsley, Mike McMeeken and Corey Hall.

Straight after the break, Max Jowitt was over for his side's sixth try of the night, and Trinity continued to assert their dominance as Cameron Scott and Josh Griffin also added themselves to the scoresheet in the later stages.

Meanwhile, Leeds Rhinos defeated Salford Red Devils following a superb second half performance.

The opening half saw a competitive contest with Alfie Edgell coming up with two tries to Ryan Brierley's one.

But the Rhinos rallied in the second stanza to ensured their home crowd would be entertained at AMT Headingley Stadium.

Lachlan Miller went over, before Edgell grabbed his third in style. Harry Newman, James McDonnell and Cooper Jenkins then piled on further points (42-6).

Hull FC moved back into the top six after pulling off a stunning victory at the Wigan Warriors’ Brick Community Stadium.

The Black & Whites executed a tactical game plan against the reigning champions, starting with an utterly dominant first-half display which saw them lead with 20 unanswered points.

A Jed Cartwright double and skipper Aidan Sezer’s try sent Hull well on their way, before Jordan Rapana and Jack Ashworth wrapped things up.

In between, Christian Wade produced a superb solo try for the Warriors, but while his side performed below standards and were vulnerable under the Hull’s high ball and with their opponents’ kicking game, John Cartwright’s men produced arguably their best performance of the season (12-32).

It’s back-to-back Super League wins for FC, while Wigan fall four points behind top spot.

On Saturday night, Hull KR returned to winning ways with a convincing win in the south of France (6-34).

They travelled to face Catalans Dragons with the League Leaders’ Shield now theirs to lose - and bounced back in style as star man Mikey Lewis inspired them to a crucial victory.

Lewis bagged a brace on his return to the side, with Jack Broadbent and Joe Burgess also completing doubles – Burgess’ being on his 200th Super League appearance.

The Robins ended a two-game losing streak, showcasing the expansive play that fans have become so familiar with in 2025.

Romain Navarette provided the only response from Joel Tomkins’ Dragons as they slumped to another defeat.

On Sunday, Castleford Tigers delivered a big blow to Warrington Wolves’ Play-Off hopes as they beat their opponents 20-14 at a very, very rainy Jungle.

Sam Stone's score put Wire ahead early on, but the hosts hit back to lead 12-6 as Daejarn Asi crossed and George Lawler captalised on a handling error.

Jake Thewlis' try brought Warrington back into it, but a resilient Cas survived the pressure and continued to lead through Chris Atkin's penalty and Josh Simm's try.

Stefan Ratchford touched down in the later stages to reduce the deficit, but Castleford held out to give interim head coach Chris Chester his first victory.
